Even if we live in times wherein everything seems to be crazy, remember that our number one priority is taking care of ourselves. As we know how to take care of ourselves, we would be able to know how to take care of others and other matters. Here are a few tips on how to bust stress and take control of your life:

1.    Meditation

Whether you prefer it or not, meditation is a must to control your own thoughts. By gaining control of your thoughts and emotions, you gain control of whatever you face for the day. Meditating for 10 to 15 minutes can increase your concentration and mind power. Meditation also revitalizes your body and clears up your senses. There is a never-ending list of benefits that you could gain by just a few minutes of meditation every day. So go invest on that yoga mat and apply for a yoga class near your area.

2.     Give Yourself Your Own “Happy Time”

Whether it is spending time with your family or giving in to your own indulgences (such as food, shopping, or going to the movies), remember that you should never forget to set aside happy time for yourself. Giving yourself time to unwind and recreate helps boost your creativity and energy levels. If you give yourself enough time to play, you will notice that this gives you a rejuvenated approach towards work. Even if you are happy being a workaholic, remember that balance is still important.

3.    Exercise
The rule of the thumb is to visit the gym three times a week. If you are not a gym-goer, 30 minutes of brisk walking or jogging every day will do. Exercise helps take stress out of the body. Besides that, exercise can also boost the production of endorphins (also known as ‘happy hormones’), which helps you feel good all throughout the day.

4.    Sleep well
One of the keys to a happy and balanced mindset is to getting enough sleep every night. Six to eight hours of sleep regularly can increase alertness and productivity in the workplace.

5.    Practice a Certain Amount of Detachment

If times get rough, it is good to have a certain amount of detachment or a ‘come what may’ attitude. This allows you to decide with the right kind of perspective. When work gets too stressful, remember that sometimes ‘good enough’ is just fine. Don’t push yourself too much.
