To Save A Life (2009) Review

To save a life is a gripping movie well directed by Brian Baugh. It is based on the story written by Jim Britts. The main star cast of the movie comprises of Randy Wayne, Deja Kreutzberg, Joshua Weigel,  Steven Crowder, and D. David Morin. The producers of this movie are Jim Britts, Scott Evans, Steve Foster, Nicole Franco and Christina K.Y. Lee. The cinematography is well handled by C. Clifford Jones. The racy visual stretch out the screenplay of the movie and give the audience a feel of thrill towards the climax. A neat presentation of the story makes it watchable.

The film unfolds the story of Jake Taylor, a youthful man who is rightly blessed with a basketball scholarship, the hottest girlfriend, and the cooperative friends. But he is faced with the great demand of the small fashionable group. Jake neglects his puerility best-friend, Roger. The high school campus turns tense as the friends are not indulging in good friendship, Jake moves around with all and has maximum fun but roger is left out with isolation and mistreatment.

All this results in Roger finally shows his anger to the peak when one day he appears on campus with a gun. All effort from Jake to stop roger turns unfruitful. The sequence of event turns the life of Jake upside down. One question remains in the mind of Jake which repeats “could I have saved Roger? In his search for the perfect answers, finally Jake finds himself seeking for the next Roger. He lands up in meeting the loners, losers and geeks. His mission to find the answer puts him in much further troubles to ask himself the next important and puzzling question that “what do I want my life to be about?”

The film depicts the contemporary world’s realistic image of the teenaged youth and the dirty high school campus atmosphere. The film never shies away from the struggle faced by the teenagers. This lands the movie in getting a PG-13 certificate from the censor authorities. The film looks into the issue of teen sexuality, to abortion, to drug, to cutting, alcohol abuse and to suicide.
