I haven’t read a lot of comics by Victor Gishler. The X Men 1 was the third one that I have read. To be honest I found it fairly interesting, especially when I take into consideration the Deadpool Corps 1. There isn’t anything out of the ordinary and is a standard X Men story that shows out of the world characters and villains who are constantly plotting against them. Even though this isn’t an exceptional book to begin the series with but for all the X Men fans it will come across as a decent book.

Victor deliberately doesn’t use the term “Vampire” throughout the book and it might come across as a stylistic decision initially but as you dig deeper you realize that Victor wants to give the readers a surprise by telling that the villains in this issue are vampires.

Gishler does well to show the villains as Vampires without naming them and it does give you that surprise element initially. He gives impressions of Vampires very subtlety and without using the name. But you move forward this ploy starts to drag a bit as you already know that the villains are Vampires and when Victor still tries to maintain that element of suspense you start to fee the drag.

However, amidst all this one must give credit to the author for allowing the characters to express themselves fully. Although the story telling and the story itself aren’t up to the mark, the artwork is fantastic. Paco Medina’s pencil weaves the magic for this issue and I must confess this is one the best works that he has ever done.

Overall this issue will be remembered more for the artwork of Vlasco and Medina and the curiosity around this first issue will see a lot of people reading it. But if Gishler wants the rest of the issues well, he has to tighten his story telling style.

The War for Cybertron has been inspired by an animated series on TV and from a host of comics cobbled, together to create a brand for a series of Japanese toys. Besides, it is hardly surprising that it comes across as something that has been dragged too long.

However, as the Transformers evolved over the years The War for Cybertron has been its first real attempt to shed its image of a contrived videogames maker.

Now that it has freed itself from the movie tie in, which caused the downfall of the Revenge of the Fallen, War of Cybertron is definitely the best game Transformers has ever created.

The game is loosely based on the Dreamwave and G1 comics. The story primarily focuses on the feud between Autobots and Decepticons, which eventually leads to their exile from Cybertron.

The main mode stretches the story across 10 hour long chapters, 5 each for Decepticons and Autobots. Although you can play either of the part first, it is advisable to play it in sequence. The first faction is where Decepticons’ mission is to poison Cybertron with Dark Energon and the second mission is of Autobots’ repairing the damage.

The Gameplay is pretty basic and although it doesn’t have anything new to offer, it surely is very enjoyable in terms of combat, controls and an occasionally some outstanding graphics and animation. As the name suggests, the controls enable extremely precise movement and great speed when transformed.

The transformations are very engaging and you will hardly notice the not-so-great vehicle abilities. With aircrafts, the transformations are exceptional but when it comes to vehicles, it doesn’t have the same quality.

Another great aspect of the War of Cybertron is that, it has a great multiplayer experience but on the other hand the online offering doesn’t have much to boast of. Taken as a whole, it is a fairly decent game.
